Permission to Dream

imageChildren have no problem living in a make-believe world. And the sheer joy with which they experience and recount their experiences is nothing short of contagious.

But there inevitably comes a time where we are shamed for dreaming. And as a society we dismiss dreamers for having their “heads in the clouds” or “dreaming their lives away.”

But what is a life without dreams? As an adult, you may not be battling giants or riding on unicorns, but you don’t have to forfeit imagination. It was your first show of creativity. Give yourself permission to reclaim that part of your nature.

Keep in mind that dreamers are the innovators. They are the ones who advance us. The protectors of hope and the ones that reach into and live in possibility.

The Cost of Self-Deception

What is your relationship with your own aspirations? Can you be honest with yourself about what it is that you really want?

Some of us tend to downplay our own desires for several reasons. Perhaps we believe it to be arrogant or selfish to dream grandly. Perhaps we don’t think we deserve it. Maybe, we’re trying to avert the disappointment of not achieving it.

Know that your reluctance to admit your true yearnings will keep them unrealized. The internal discord will prevent them from coming to fruition.

Dream Rules

5848136-4x3-340x255Our dreams are our guides. But far too often, we pledge to manifest them…someday. We set them apart from us using time as distance. We place them in the category of “what if” instead of “yes.”

We need to live in the same space with our dreams so that they infuse us with their power. So, here are the rules.

Regard them with reverence. They are sacred. But not so much that they’re placed on a shelf out of reach.

They’re yours to be cherished and experienced.

Tweet this: You honor your dreams by acting upon them.

Are Your Dreams Too Big?

giant-sequoia-trees-grow-faster-in-old-age_61972_600x450Sometimes, your dream feels “too big” and fear sets in.

But this only happens when you think of your dream as being something separate from yourself. It’s like looking at  a Sequoia tree and being overwhelmed by its gigantic nature.

That fear comes from the perspective of ego. The dream feels like a thing to be conquered. It is the tree outside of yourself.

From a soul perspective, you understand that you are the seed. There is no worry about how to become that thing when you know you already are that thing.

Remember that you wouldn’t dream it if you weren’t capable of it.

When Dreams are Realized

45759-Follow-Your-Dreams-They-Know-The-WayPursuing a dream can be scary. Having that dream realized can be even scarier.

It’s easy to think that the grass will be greener on the other side and it some ways it will. However, moving into that new space can be disconcerting. The questions will start to come:

“Can I do this?”
“Am I really ready for this?”
“Am I worthy of this?”

Those are the signs of your armor shattering. Your previous shell must break in order for you to expand. As a result you will feel unprotected when actualizing a dream. But remember this:

The willingness to be vulnerable will carry you to new levels. (Tweet this.)

Walk into it knowing that you are on the right path.

2014 and You

imagesResolutions simply don’t work for the majority of people. Perhaps because, they’re usually made on a superficial level. That’s not to say that the resolutions, themselves, are superficial.

It only means that the heart of most resolutions isn’t often explored. It isn’t the thing you’re after, but what that thing will bring to you and how it will make you feel about yourself.

Alternatively, I have chosen a theme for the year. It will be the umbrella under which all decisions will be made. My theme for the year is “CHANGE.” I will learn to welcome it. I will consciously create it. I will love it.

My primary intention? To invite more possibility into my life and explore the fullness of my being.

As I’ve tried to repeatedly reinforce through my communications, you are infinitely capable. What would it take for you to move into the fullness of who you are…who you can be?

Choose a theme to help you move in that direction. Remember, the Universe would not torment you with a desire it had no intentions of making possible for you. Believe. Act. Allow.

2014 is yours. Happy New Year.
