In a Word

Conversations go well beyond the words that are spoken–especially in difficult communications. The simple definition of a word may get lost in a cloud of connotation.

Remember that each word spoken lands differently depending on the participants’ filters of experience. The resultant effect is often unknown, if even considered.

On their own, words are imperfect tools. As a result, they can be intentional or unintentional weapons and they can be balms. Learn to use and receive them mindfully.
